The Situation:

FSC Lighting was approached to provide a solution for a parking garage facility in a class “A” apartment complex in Miami Beach, FL. The parking operator was looking to reduce energy usage and the staggering maintenance costs of re-lamping T8 fluorescents. FSC was awarded the project based on the overall value of the fixtures, performance based on uniformity, ease of installation and energy consumption. Low maintenance costs, long useful life and good light quality are some of the many benefits associated with the L-Bar technology.

The Solution:

FSC Lighting’s L7600 Series Vaportite Fixture replaced the fluorescent luminaires throughout the parking garage, dropping lighting costs by 53%. By reducing the fixture wattage from 59 to 28, this major building operator was able to use 169,725 fewer kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, a savings of approximately $21,216 annually based on $0.125 kWh rate and operating 24 hours a day. The key to longevity is proper thermal management; individual aluminum heat sinks on the L-Bar provide a 203,000 hour rated life and the ability to withstand the demanding 24/7 run time in Miami. In addition, yellowed, cracked, and broken lenses were replaced with a new ribbed, high impact, acrylic diffusers, giving the structure a more uniformed and polished look.
